Russian, Tajik troops hold joint anti-terror drills in Asia

Russian servicemen are taking part in a joint anti-terrorism exercise

with the armed forces of Tajikistan, the Central Military District’s press service said. The maneuvers kicked off on Monday at five training grounds in the Central Asian republic. "From March 27 to March 30, 2017 a joint command-and-staff exercise to train the command of combined forces is held under a cooperation plan between the defense ministries of Russia and Tajikistan," it said. The servicemen will train to cooperate during joint operations on combating illegal armed groups. The drills are held at three training grounds of the Tajik armed forces and two grounds of Russia’s 201 Military Base in Tajikistan. The task force of Russia’s Central Military District, 201 Military Base, military formations and units of the district, an air group involving aircraft of long-range, military-transport, front-line and army aviation take part in the drills. Dushanbe sent motorized infantry units, air assault brigades and aviation to the exercise.
