Export opportunities of Tajikistan

Republic of Tajikistan has an open economy, where imports of goods and services

are more than exported. In 2012, the ranking of global trade of Tajikistan according to exports and imports remained at 143 and 140 respectively. After the independence, the export geographical structure of the country was completely changed. If in 1992, exports to the Commonwealth of Independent States accounted for 62 percent and 38 percent to foreign countries, then in 2014 the ratio changed dramatically. The exports indication totaled 1073 million USD in 2018. In this way it should be noticed that the Program on export promotion and import replacement of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2016-2020 directed for the creation of favorable conditions for the implementation of the foreign economic policy of the Republic of Tajikistan, increase the competitiveness of the domestic and foreign markets and increase the export volume, reducing the share of consumer goods and services in the total volume of imports. The outcome of such constructive measures of the Government of the country is that 820 industrial enterprises have been established in the various sectors of the industry in the period of 2016 and 2017, with a total of 20 thousand new permanent workplaces. At the same time, more than 35 kinds of new industrial products production have been put under the way in this period. As Leader of the Nation mentioned in his regular message as a consequence of the measures taken by the Government of the country in the last three years, the share of industrial sector in the GDP has increased from 15 to 17 percent. Realization mutual beneficial cooperation with foreign investors and entrepreneurs over the past five years contributed to attracting more than 5 billion USD foreign investments to the economy of the country, including nearly 2 billion USD direct investments.
